We’re always advocates for sharing knowledge so others can learn new things and expand their skills. That’s why we were so impressed with Teeks for Geeks, the self-proclaimed ultimate social learning haven for geeks around the world.
Teeks for Geeks is an online, cloud-powered social network platform where people with various tech knowledge and experience levels can go to learn, train, collaborate, and share knowledge about coding, networking, and IT expertise. It is broken down into two different groups of geeks – the trainees and the gurus. Gurus share their vast knowledge through mini courses of study, called Teeks, with the trainees so they can learn a new skill.
While many Teeks are free, there are also premium courses that you can choose to buy – allowing Gurus to earn money. Trainees can also set up a wish list so others can purchase the premium courses for them. Teeks for Geeks offers a unique self-paced and self-evaluating way of learning with Guru Mate, a software that provides tips and hints along your learning journey so you will never feel stuck. Geeks are also able to collaborate through different social features, like Facebook and Twitter.
Sharing the Experience
With their unique approach, our Teeks for Geeks comrades are easily identifiable with our TruScribe team. We, like the Gurus, bring our already established experience to people new to our whiteboard scribing process. We’ve created more than 160 hand-drawn videos, making us the most experienced video scribing company to date – which means we’ve worked on more scripts, topics, video scribing methods, and launches than anyone else. Take a look at our process to see more about how our experience benefits you.
Many of us face difficult obstacles every day that we have to overcome. But do yours challenge you mentally and physically? After working with Spartan Race, we have a new definition of what an obstacle actually entails.
Are you Spartan tough?
Voted the best obstacle race in 2011 by Outside Magazine, The Spartan Race takes racing to a new level requiring total athleticism, absolute discipline, and mental toughness. The international obstacle racing series was started by eight ultra-endurance athletes and a royal marine who wanted to create a world-class obstacle race unlike any other in the world. The series is comprised of three races, and if you complete it in one season, you are officially named an Ultimate Spartan.
Spartan Sprint is the first race to take place, where participants run, crawl, carry, and jump their way over three miles and through 15 obstacles. Almost everyone completes the Sprint and the top three male and female finishers qualify to move on for free to the second leg of the series – Olympic Super Spartan. This race steps up the ante with more than eight miles and 20 obstacles. But the Olympic Super Spartan is nothing compared to the Ultra Spartan Beast, the third and final part to the series with 12+ miles and more than 25 obstacles. The Spartan Race comes to each region in the United States and has long distance races in Canada and the UK, culminating in a World Championship Ultra Race in Vermont.
And if you make it through all three – Sprint, Olympic, and Ultra – you qualify to take part in an extra race called the Spartan Death Race. Created in 2005, this 48-hour race doesn’t have a determined mileage but warrants over a fail rate often more than 80%.
TruScribe strives to fulfill every client’s needs, no matter how diverse the content is. That’s why we jumped at the chance to work with Spartan Race. Though we don’t have mud pits to trudge through, we do understand the importance of overcoming mental challenges. The TruScribe team aims to deliver your message in the most receptive way possible. Through whiteboard video scribing, your audience is exposed to the continuous motion of images while listening to what you have to say – increasing its retention rate to 65%.

TruScribe provides a unique way of spreading your message, whether it’s to an audience as small as your start-up business or as big as an entire nation. British Airline Pilots Association (BALPA) recently utilized TruScribe’s video scribing to help spread the word to the UK against a proposal that could potentially put flying safety at risk.
Once the recession hit Europe, airline companies really started to feel the pressure to increase their staff productivity. The EU seemed to come up with a solution by proposing a new rule that would alter the flying time limitations placed on Britain Airline pilots. And though it seemed good in theory, BALPA stressed the rule as being misguided and potentially fatal. If passed, the rule would allow pilots to fly at a state of fatigue equal to four times the legal blood alcohol limit for flying. With the UK having one of the best air safety records in the world, pilots are cautioning others that they do not want to wait for a fatal crash, like the Colgan Air Crash in New York, to show how dangerous fatigued flying is. BALPA came to TruScribe to create a video scribe encouraging the people in the UK to sign a petition against this new regulation.
There is no better way to spread word faster than having something go viral in today’s day and age. Using a medium where you can showcase both an audio and visual message is vital. Here at TruScribe, our technique of video scribing uses constant motion to draw in the audience and make it easier to hold its attention for the duration of the video. And the repetitive use of the safety net image directly correlated to the assured security pilots and the people of the UK need. Emma Chisholm, Head of Marketing & Communications at BALPA, explained how the flexible approach, creative integrity, and understanding of client service made her experience with TruScribe a success.

If you ask an artist to paint a picture of a beach they’ve never been to, how good will the painting be? If you ask a sports writer to describe how the Security and Exchange Commission works, how accurate will that description be? You may not be a good whiteboard artist or a great storyteller, but it takes two to tango! You know your profession like no one else, so why wouldn’t you want to participate in telling your story the way it should be told? That’s why we ask our clients to join the TruScribe team to set their message free with a whiteboard animation animation that will not only look great but effectively get their message across.

What are the two fastest-growing forms of marketing on the internet? Well, if you were to consult a digital marketing specialist, the answer would unanimously be Mobile and Video. Not only has there been a phenomenal rise in smartphone use over the past 5 years; but video has also become the go-to online medium for businesses to promote themselves.
There is little doubt that video enhances a brand experience, encouraging customer interaction and raising purchase intent. The emergence of YouTube and Vimeo has accelerated the adoption of widespread video consumption by many internet users. Most traditional video vendors – such as Blockbuster – have gone out of business due to the ride in online video interest.
71% of 16 to 24 year olds now regularly access the internet using smartphones, with the fastest growing demographic being female. With such rapid adoption of mobile Internet, anyone deploying online video without mobile in mind is ignoring mobile users at their own peril.
Now, there are always challenges to overcome. It’s true that online video is much easier to deploy than mobile video, thanks to the formats available. Flash is notoriously absent on Apple devices – meaning that video often fails to show at all. In addition, mobile devices have small screens, which are increasingly used to view ever improving HD quality video, compromising the user experience. This is less of a problem with tablets as the larger screen size makes video more feasible. The final problem is mobile connectivity – 3G connection and slow wi-fi make it more difficult to view videos on a smartphone than on a PC.
Even though these challenges exist, the benefits are much stronger. Mobile video offers consumers a fully-engaged experience with much deeper brand visibility than television or online as people carry their smartphones with them almost 24/7. It enables brands to ensure their products stand out from standard text or images, giving consumers more product information and making the purchasing cycle more interactive. This, in turn, will help to drive sales and foster loyalty. Including testimonials from previous buyers, videos of the product being used or exclusive interviews with designers are all ways to make a product stand out in a crowded marketplace.
According to online marketing specialists, there has never been a better time to utilize mobile video. For those familiar with whiteboard animation and scribe videos, think of how great your message would look in the hands of mobile users.
Have you noticed anything different about your YouTube viewing experience? Perhaps not, but due to a new video algorithm that just went into place, every single video on the popular video site will be affected. The new algorithm takes into account the view-through rate of a video as a large determining factor for search position and suggested videos. This shift signals a move toward rewarding viewer engagement with a video and away from keyword and tag-stuffing.
What does this mean for businesses? Let’s say you put in tags and keywords about video marketing but your video is about how to article marketing. Because your tags have nothing to do with what the video is about, people will watch for a short time and then stop. YouTube will remember this lack of relevancy and engagement.
What happens next is that when your video shows up for a related search, it will be lower in the rankings. And as your view-through rate remains low, so does your rankings.
So what can you do to stay at the top? Make sure you use relevant tags and text when you post videos and don’t be afraid to go back to older videos to make sure everything is properly done.
And above all, make sure you have an engaging, message driven video much like a scribe video.
We really think that as more people see and become interested in video scribing, there are going to be even more techniques added to the list in an attempt to innovate and stand-out. At the end of our first video, Susan Weinschenk Ph.D., quoted Albert Einstein. He said, “Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex. It takes a touch of genius, and a lot of courage, to move in the opposite direction.” This quote is not a stick we use to poke at our competition, but rather a ruler we use to measure how we develop our style. It can be hard enough to get the first 5 parts of video scribing right. And anything beyond that can start creating layers of distraction from what all of these videos are trying to do, communicate a message.
So our name TruScribe isn’t about other methods of video scribing being false, not at all. As we innovate in this niche, the name simply guides us, like Einstein does, to remain True to the 5 fundamentals and to be True to what our clients are trying to do, spread their message.
You’ve seen video scribing. That’s how you got here. You know what it is, and from a distance it all has a similar feel.
Here’s a short list of the video scribing basics:
1. A message
2. A voice-over
3. A hand quickly drawing images and text
4. The images are black on a white background with a color thrown in.
5. The canvas moves to a new white space so more things can be drawn
You could probably add a couple things that you’ve seen here and there.
6. Really complex elaborate illustrations and scenery
7. Zooming out to reveal all the images at once
And even more recently we’ve seen
8. The hand making things magically appear
9. Dramatic music and voice-overs
10. Color everywhere
Whiteboard Animation Marketing Videos by TruScribe are Here!
We are Message Bringers
This whiteboard video was created for Susan Weinschenk of Human Factors International. She had recently written the book,Neuro Web Design – What Makes them Click and was looking for ways to promote her book. But after some discussion we decided to start by creating a video for HFI instead.
HFI’s success with their first scribe video on YouTube, combined with new requests for more scribe videos from others, spurred us to launch TruScribe. TruScribe’s sole focus is to give your voice a video. To take your message in audio format and scribe along side it.
We didn’t start this style, but we’re going to become the best at it so our clients are the most successful online delivering their message.
There are so many great reasons to get your message scribed. First off, you one rarely hears of podcasts and blog posts going viral. The most convincing to us though is retention rate. Your speech, audio book, podcast or teleseminar, alone, is only going to achieve an average retention rate of 10% for your audience. When you add images and illustration to your oral delivery, you increase the retention potential to 65%. That makes scribe videos 6.5x as likely to delivery your message into the memory of your audience than your audio format alone. And we’ve only started reading the research.
Other things we’re going to be assisting our clients with in the near future:
How to record great audio for your scribe video
How to build and run an amazing launch campaign
If you’re even considering a scribe video for your message, do it soon!
